This story was inspired by a writing prompt in JF Danskin’s 15 Crime-Related Writing Prompts.

“We may be criminals, but we have values,” stated Tony as they drove past the mom and pop convenience store with a tip jar sitting at the register.

“We’ll just break in and pry open the register, we’ll be in and out in a minute,” responded Johnny.

“No. This is our target,” said Tony as they pulled in quietly to a Walmart parking lot.

“Are you fucking crazy?”

“No, just inspired,” Tony responded with a malevolent grin.

He popped open the trunk and glanced slyly toward Johnny now.

“They have cameras everywhere. We’ll get caught.”

“Not if we’re using dynamite.”
