Beautifully said, Jeffrey. This one resonated with me a lot. My dad has always been the epitome of kindness toward strangers. Growing up it always used to bother me the way he would try to strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere in almost any situation. Now I just think he's pretty wise. Sometimes they were just sweet one-off interactions, but other times he discovered he had worlds in common with these random people and made lasting friends out of these conversations.
I also think about this cashier at my local Wawa who's been there for years, but just has such a contagious warmth to him that he's become a bit of a local legend. "Don from Wawa" we call him lol. He could just treat it as any old job, but instead he uses an excuse to learn a little bit about and joke around with whoever gets in his line.
Anyway, sorry for the tangent and thank you for inspiring it. Really enjoyed this one. Thanks for sending it in! And I really appreciate the kind words, Jeffrey!
