Beautifully written, Janice. I only wish it weren't so relevant again. Whenever these mass shootings happen, I just feel a deeper and deeper sense of defeat. It's critical to talk about, but at this point I don't even feel like I can anymore. I've said what others have already said a hundred times over, and this senseless violence still just happens like clockwork. I could really feel your defeat in that brief way you addressed this recent Maine shooting. What else is there to be said that you haven't said here? If only anything at all had changed since the last shooting, or the twenty before that. It's tragic that lawmakers haven't done more.
