Because I think of drive-ins as something so retro, it kind of has an added appeal. They're not better viewing experiences, but with a good spot they're not a lot worse. They're a lot of fun outdoors in the summertime. I also didn't learn this until recently, but one of the oldest still-operating drive-ins in the whole world is under an hour from my house! So that adds to the novelty of it a bit, too.
It was a mutual decision, really. So I may need to take partial credit for the tragic decision to leave that cinematic masterpiece early hahaha.
