Could you expand a little on why? Again, I totally see the opposite perspective on this. I don't think the concern over friend links at the top of articles is invalid. But why isn't there some sense in my perspective, too? I can't overstate enough that being able to read those first few articles for free was crucial in my decision to join, and there are many other writers I've spoken with who had that same experience.
