Did you see Mr. Robot, too? Hearing Sam Esmail was going to be involved with this one, I was really thrilled for it beforehand. But it didn't really recapture much of the magic of his work with the show for me. There were aspects I really liked, and ultimately I'd say it's one of the better and more realistic end of the world movies, but I couldn't help but feeling as though Esmail wanted to do more with it. This subject matter is something Sam Esmail is spectacular with, but it didn't feel nearly as effective for me as in Mr. Robot (granted, Esmail did have far less run-time to work with.) I also didn't find the son in this particularly convincing, but the daughter I liked.
Great review, Barnaby!
