First off, thank you so much for personally taking the time to respond, Tony!
I’ve been seeing quite a lot of AI-generated content in my feed, independent of the people and publications that I follow. Part of that might be my own fault, because on quite a few occasions I’ve been curious to see how well these accounts are doing, and testing whether or not their content is actually AI-generated. I’ve also seen quite a lot of writers submit AI content to my publication, too. This past week has been the worst onslaught of it that I’ve seen in awhile.
Many of these accounts aren’t performing well, but plenty are. And when I consider my own engagement numbers and how they equate to payment under the new system, it’s hard to imagine that some of these accounts aren’t now pulling in thousands. Some of these AI and recycled happiness advice accounts that I’ve found get many times more comments, claps and responses than I do on everything that they publish.
From your perspective, should success be all about the quality of content? Do you think that engaging with other authors should be instrumental on the path to success here? I’ve recently had multiple writers tell me that they’ve found they’re making more by simply spending their time reading and commenting on others in hopes of being reciprocated, rather than continuing to publish regularly.
Thanks again for taking the time to hear my thoughts and comment!
