For a long time the scientfic community didn't think lucid dreaming was something real. It was only within the last couple of decades or so that a couple people devised an experiment to actually prove it. It was a pretty fascinating experiment.

It's not something we know an enormous amount about yet, or that's easy at all to study, but we're gradually making some progress! I can highly recommend enough looking into it. It's really changed my life a lot.
