For most of my life I've felt as though religion exists in a world that has already progressed far beyond it. To see Christianity commingle with Facebook in the early 2010's with those "like if you love Jesus" posts was pretty comical for me. I actually wrote a piece a little while back called "Christianity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" that explores a lot of these same ideas you're talking about here.
If religion can live to see the advent of the internet, then AI will hardly be a nail in the coffin. I think religion will exist as long as the afterlife is a mystery, and possibly even beyond that point.
