Honored to inspire such an impassioned response, even if you disagree lol. Thanks for taking the time to leave it, Darren!

I got curious just now to look up the definition of "horror" and I was pretty satisfied with all of the definitions offered. They more or less talk about the sorts of things I look for when I watch a "horror movie." I'm actually a little surprised people are so flexible with the definition when compiling their top horrors of all time lists. If it's a matter of greatness, I can hand it to all three of these movies for being profoundly influential (even if I can't bring myself yet to enjoy the Exorcist). Pscyho is certainly one of the most important of all time, but it does tend to be pretty rare for me that older horror movies really hold up. I don't blame them for not being scarier, though. If anything, I lament that I can't go into these older horrors a little less tainted by modern ones!
