I actually think that a big ol’ 3-syllable word like epistle is enough to lose the interest of a lot of more casual American readers. It’s a shame when the correct word isn’t the recognized word. There are so many words I love that I feel like I need to refrain from using around most people. I wouldn’t give up on that advice of his just yet, great piece!
