I always love when religion can be viewed as a pathway to spirituality and presence of mind rather than a gateway to salvation that only certain believers can gain entry to. There's definitely a lot to be gained from scriptural teachings. It doesn't demand that the words be literally true.

Where I got most frustrated with religion is in all of the closed-mindedness. I've had former friends become born again christian and suddenly begin preaching that yoga and meditation are activities that will send you straight to hell.
