I can definitely see how that would color the way you watch the film! One of my best friends was raised in a cult, and it was an experience that really shaped him a lot.

I think that I came to this movie from a bit of the opposite perspective. For most of my life, I was a pretty firm cynic about the world of the supernatural. As an adult, I've had enough experiences I can't explain that I feel pretty comfortable at least calling myself spiritual, but I admit I still take quite a lot of issue with the world of organized religion. So what I brought to the table in seeing this movie was a distaste for what I viewed almost as prosletyzing.

It's ineresting the way our own personal background changes what it is to watch any film or piece of art at all. Really enjoyed learning a little more about your personal relationship to the movie!
