I don't think that there's absolutely no element of cultishness in the Democratic party, don't get me wrong. Many people will vote blindly blue no matter what.

But that quote to me just doesn't seem at all in line with the events of the last week, either politically or on social media. The conversations about Biden's faults among democrats are inescapable, and the conversations about Trump's faults among Republicans are all but non-existent. Politicians are publicly coming out against Biden's continued run.

Maybe they'll face mild political ramifications, but I don't believe it will cost them their future in politics. I don't believe they'll field death threats from thousands of people within their own political party. I can't really think of any current parallel among the Democratic party that shows the extreme level of political tribalism involved in things like Liz Cheyney's and Mike Pence's effective excommunication from their own party.
