I don’t think there’s a word of your take I disagree with! Glad to see we feel pretty similarly about the movie. It was my favorite of the Gatsby adaptations without a doubt. I thought that the anachronisms all worked well, and that point about the parallels between eras is spot on.

The Great Gatsby was one of the first books that really made me love to read/write, and I consider Fitzgerald’s style a huge inspiration to this day. So i’m reluctant to say anything about him that’s even remotely negative. It’s still a book I’d consider an all-time favorite.
