I experienced something similar when watching Schindler's List for the first time recently.

Strangely, I’ve also found solace in Holocaust memoirs. Yes, they’re tragic, but they also remind me that even in history’s darkest moments, there were people who found ways to hope and help those around them, from small gestures to incredible sacrifices.
