I grew up almost entirely on Nintendo and only dabbled in more adult games prior to the pandemic. I had some of the consoles and quite a few games downloaded for them, though, so when lockdown came around I had a sudden renaissance where I realized I finally had time to play all the games I had sitting on the backburner. Both the last of us games were incredibly intense for me, but no game may ever top that petrifying rat king fight in the hospital basement. Last of us 1 I think has by far the most perfect story mode I've ever seen in a game, and part 2 squandered a bit of that for me, even while the game play improved quitte a bit.
Metroidvania is a genre I haven't explored too much of! Botw and Totk were the first zelda games I managed to really connect with, as much as I tried to love the older entries.
Elden ring I'll hopefully get around to one day hahaha. There's a small part of me that longs for another, maybe less lethal, pandemic that can give me a rationale to waste a year playing games. I still have yet to actually beat totk! Been feeling an urge to revisit ghost of tsushima, too, and try out that DLC.
