I really relate to a lot of what you said here. I always took issue when I was younger with the teachers and authorities who used to say “don’t talk back to adults.” There were so many times as a child that I actually believed I was stepping out of place by simply responding to people who were older than me, and now as an adult I’m really thankful I was that kid who “talked back.” Adults don’t automatically deserve respect just because they’re adults.
