I think she definitely forced your hand by allowing a heroin addict into your home without even asking you. If it had been getting back with the ex alone that was the final straw, I could imagine someone saying you'd overreacted. But in this case, I think you acted wisely and that it was mature of you to still congratulate her when she got a new job.
