I think there's no uniformity to what I'm saying here whatsoever. There are black and white movies that have changed my life profoundly. It tends to be the movies that hinge the most on action and special effects where there's often been a disconnect for me, but even then there are pretty notable exceptions.
When I was young enough, I was pretty happy and entertained with whatever movie or cartoon my parents put on. It hardly matter what year it was made. I think it was around 9 or 10 and that happy-go-lucky childhood spirit started to disappear a bit that that "Ugh! Black and white!?" attitude began for me. Before then, I think I could have enjoyed an old Godzilla movie or the first King Kong. But once I had an established sense of the discrepancy between decades, I think it forever change my perception of film.
