I think this has been one of the biggest personal conflicts for me on medium truthfully. I’m pretty convinced there is actually truth to the idea that consistency pays off on medium. It’s definitely something I’ve seen quite a bit with people who really stick to a niche.
But at the end of the day, I didn’t join medium with much of an income expectation. I mostly just wanted a place to publish my writing, and so much of what keeps writing fun and fresh is trying new things and jumping erratically between genres. And even though I think there are actually followers/commenters/email subscribers I’ve lost for jumping around constantly, I also think Medium’s rewarded me quite a bit for trying new things, too. I’ve done extremely well with both the boost and curation process, and that’s definitely helped to even things out in my favor. Ultimately, i have no regrets at all about diversifying my content on here.
