I think this point actually enters into some pretty complicated philosophical territory. If they carried out a coup, in overthrowing a tyrant, then yes, their actions would be implicitly righteous. Tyrants need to be removed from power.
There are lots of necessary evils history excuses when they're done in the name of removing or dispatching despots or winning wars that should have never started. Even the dropping of the atomic bombs is something Americans and much of the world largely consider as a necessary evil.
I feel very strongly that the best path forward is the peaceful one. But violence may very well be what the situation requires if our institutions are going to continue standing. I hope it doesn't come to that.
