I thought it actually worked really well! I'm surprised at how common the complaints about the soundtrack have been. It really does do an excellent job at creating a parallel between eras. Certainly worth rereading the book again first, though! I've been overdue for a revisit myself. It was a hugely inspirational novel for me when I first read it.
