I would say it's a nearly opposite dynamic in my own family! My mom's always been the one who has trouble controlling her anger, and my dad's always been the meditator who's able to just let things go. Me, I'm somewhere in between. I would have certainly fantasized about the spike strip myself. And my dad would certainly have advocated for just a simple conversation. It was a similar dynamic between my late grandma and grandpa, too! So I would say it isn't as simple as gender, but it's a fairly good predictor. In most families I know, it's almost always the opposite of how it is in my own family.
On a woefully unrelated note, have you ever seen Adventure Time? It's a show I could imagine you really enjoying.
