Initially I meant to include more of his reasoning here, but the piece was getting a little long so I ended up splitting it into two. I did get him to concede that these words are fine in the hands of a great author, but that it's best learning without them. I still take issue with some of it, but I admit that he was a far better teacher than I ever had in college.
