It’s fascinating how much of the reading process takes place in our heads. It’s one of my favorite aspects of reading fiction. At the same time, I almost always take a fairly concrete approach to my writing as far as interpretation goes. In 95% of what I've published, my intention is a very manufactured and goal-directed thing.
