I've always had a controversial sympathy for people who experience pedophilia but don't act on it. I think many forget that it isn't a choice, and that many of our evolutionary predecessors exhibit similar behaviors. That said, I do think kids need to be protected and that we ought to do whatever we can to prevent pedophiles from acting. But truthfully, unless they're a repeat offender, I don't think there are too many crimes that warrant the death penalty. Certainly some repeat offenders would be better being put to death than wasting tax payer dollars in prisons, but I also think there's such thing as a pedophile who's acted on their impulses who still doesn't deserves less than government sanctioned murder.
