I've always had a different perspective than most toward "work." Having artist/musician parents, I knew from a fairly young age that I didn't want to follow the typical 9-5 route. The older I get, though, the crazier it is to me how many people center their entire lives around work they hate. I read a stat a while back that said that something like 50% of people spend half of their life doing something they hate. It's unthinkable to me.
It's also so soulless how many people whose first question when they meet a new person is "What do you do for work?" One of my favorite aspects of traveling is getting away from that American work=identity culture.
Thanks for sending this one in, Dan!
