I've gotta say, you make a strong argument for why Taylor Swift just appeals to the lowest common denominator. I'm inclined to say she's something more to music than Joe Rogan or Theo Vonn are to the world of podcasts, but she's far from one of the greatest artists of all time.

Would you say inversely that popular artists are never exceptional? I would call The Beatles exceptional. I admit I'm a little sad to see some of their records fall to Taylor. I think she's at least more inventive and musical than many of the Lil' Yachtys and Yung' drug peddla's out there these days, but she's not quite the lyrical genius that my girlfriend thinks she is.
