Just finished reading the rest of your story! It's interesting how many parallels there are between your experience and mine. Even in beginning to explore hallucinogens in my 20s, it could hardly have been more transformational for my personality. And like you, I'm not totally beyond my struggles as a result, but I have a far easier time dealing with them, and pushing aside negative emotions.

As far as MDMA goes, I've tried it and had valuable experiences, but it's side effect-heavy enough that I don't tend to recommend it to people. I've also had a couple pretty negative experiences. I think that drugs like LSD, psilocybin and DMT, and ketamine apparently, help you to address your struggles in a more natural way. MDMA floods your brain with serotonin and makes you far happier in the moment, but I've found those experiences particularly hard to integrate during the withdrawals that often follow them.

If you're at all curious, here's a couple articles I wrote about DMT:

There's a bit of overlap between the two pieces. But certainly of all the experiences I've had with psychedelics, the DMT ones have felt the most valuable to try to impart. If you're going to continue exploring psychedelics, I personally think that DMT or ayahuasca would be a wise next choice.
