Psilocybin mushrooms have been in the news a lot recently. As study after study demonstrate the therapeutic value that these experiences can offer, more and more states are beginning to research the substance. Some states are beginning to legalize psilocybin mushrooms entirely. While the experience detailed below largely explores the playful aspects to the drug, it’s important to note how profound these experiences can be, especially in controlled settings.

The plan is to take mushrooms and go to an amusement park. When we arrive in Wildwood, though, I begin having my doubts. I’m with my friends James and Ryan. As good friends as James and I are, we’re actually opposites in most regards. James is lively, talkative and anxiety-free. Ryan and I both differ here. We’re both reserved enough that we would have probably never become friends if it weren’t for James. Where I’m introverted, James is extroverted. Where I retreat, James emerges. When I go to sleep, he awakes.

Once we arrive at James’s family’s beach house, we make our way up to the boardwalk for a pizza. As we arrive there, I’m a little caught off guard. I’ve never realized before just how much Wildwood has in common with Las Vegas. From the lights, to the people, to the atmosphere, it practically feels like we’re there.
