Once again, I really admire that someone so spectacularly well informed on the bible doesn't feel the need to shove it down others' throats or allow it to effect the world of entertainment. Almost invariably in the past when people have gotten as far as directly quoting the bible with me, it's in the context of "Here's why you're wrong!" or "This is why you can't do this!" It's always a delight to talk with people who have such sensible attitudes toward the subject.

I'm a firm believer in ghosts and an afterlife. I have my doubts that it's anything as simple as so many hope for when they die, but I'd be shocked at this point to learn that death was a simple lights out. It sounds like, going off of those thoughts about your dad's visits, you might feel similarly about the idea of an afterlife? That it isn't anything as straightforward as so many believe?

These past couple years, lucid dreaming has been something that's really changed my life a lot. Not only do I see and spend time with my childhood dog again--and really, truly feel like it's her--but I'll have conversations with people who've past away that feel impossible. In one case, I spoke with a friend (probably the most brilliant person I've ever met in my life) who killed himself seven years prior. And as in the dream, I simply couldn't believe that it wasn't really him I was speaking to. Even as I became fully aware the experience was a dream and our conversation continued. The things he was saying were just so dense, and so true to himself, that there's no way I can believe that conversation could have been housed within my sleeping mind.

Added your story to the reading list! I don't think I've read any of your fiction yet actually! Have you had much luck finding an audience for it on Medium? I'd love to publish more myself. I'd been curious about the Fictions publication actually. Are you an editor there, too?
