One of the most interesting things I've realized about dreams is that there are many gradations between awareness and unawareness. The longer I've spent jounraling my dreans, the more I've felt as though the person I am in real life makes it into my dreams. My logic and personality will be surprisingly intact most of the time in when I'm sleeping, even without noticing that I'm dreaming. Just growing your retention and observation skills within dreams can help you a lot toward lucidity.

Another thing that I've realized is something that I wouldn't have suspected at all: you can have a lucid dream that isn't vivid, or even one that you forget entirely. You may have been lucid within many dreams in the past and just not recalled the experience by the time you woke up again. Quite frequently I'll remember only that I had a lucid dream, but depending on at what point during my sleep cycle it occured, I might not have the faintest recollection of what actually happened during it.
