Really nice to see you pop up here! You edited one of my pieces at Muddyum a year or so ago. You had some really great advice for me and I still consider you one of the best editors I've encountered on here.

That's a really great approach you mention. I like the idea of that middle ground. Doing away with them completely is overkill. But you're right that, especially in an opening paragraph, there's a pretty noticeable laziness to it sometimes.
