I definitely agree with your analogy here. I'd never thought to make the comparison, but the trigger happy disregard so many people have in using AI isn't at all unlike the attitudes people had toward the "unsinkable ship." I think people just have a hard time conceptualizing what it would be for AI to truly go wrong.
