So you actually do have the ability to submit published stories! But a lot of the utility in using a publication would be for the added visibility of showing up in the most recent posts section. So you'd have to scroll past a few days worth of posts to find yours if you submitted, but it would still be visible on the publication home page. if it's been over a month or two since publishing, though, there's not really any sense in using a publication.
