Spectacular job on this one, Colby. You could hardly have put my own thoughts into words on this subject better. Like you, I don't identify as much of a democrat. But the alternative? Absolute, unconscionable lunacy.

I've always been so stunned to look back at how articulate some of our former leaders used to be. The decline is nothing short of pathetic. It's a firm majority of citizens now that can't even make head or tail of the language in our most essential founding documents. And yet, people still blindly hammer each other with the accusation "that's unconstitutional!"

Writing about politics is probably the single most defeating subject I've tried to cover. I don't think there's any other subject where my words are so inevitably destined to be buried. To try to give an objective understanding to people of what we're literally dealing with is almost impossible at this point. The recap would take weeks. I tried writing about some of this a few weeks ago, but it met about the reception I feared and expected.
