Thank you so much, Amy! That really means a lot. And I think so, too.

Building dream retention actually isn’t that different from building any muscle! When I first began journaling my dreams, it was just vague images here and there that I would record. Most mornings when i’d wake up i couldn’t do much better than bullet points. But as time has gone on, bullet points have gradually turned into entire paragraphs interspersed with verbatim conversations.

I heard someone make the point recently that by recording what you can remember, you’re essentially gearing your mind toward the understanding that dreams are something worth remembering in the first place. If we never reflect on them, we subconsciously start to feel as though there’s no value in dreams at all. It’s really easy to get into a rhythm in life where you just wake up and begin your day without trying to think back on these experiences.

Journaling and meditation have been the two biggest factors for me in gaining lucidity. I’m still an amateur though. I only started having lucid dreams just last year actually.

Hope some of that helps!
