As much as I want to take credit for any success you've had at the publication, though, I'd hate to act like that has anything to do with me personally. Medium can be unpredictable. I've had articles flop in some of Medium's most popular publications, and I've been Boosted in a publication that I opened only an hour prior. And like you mention, pay is unpredictable and there will be times where an article earns five times as much one day as a day where it receives twice as many views, reads, and comments. If there's one thing that's been consistently unclear during my time on Medium it's how precisely payment is calculated. But that said, I could hardly imagine finding more financial success with my writing on a different platform. Sometimes articles only bring in a few dollars, but at my best, I had one singular article pay what I would have made off of 35 articles for the newspaper I'd been writing for.
