Thanks so much for the thoughtful reply!! I actually just finished reading the harry potter series for the first time only a few months ago! I found the last one to be very anti-climactic, especially when compared with the movie. I think the liberties they took with the movie really enhanced the story a lot. It was the only time i felt that way reading through the entire series actually. And I agree, I always found especially the parallel between house elves and slaves to be very problematic. I’m surprised that aspect isn’t discussed more actually. Overall though, i’m able to put the art above the artist on this one. From what i’ve heard her say on the subject of sexuality and gender, i’m a little surprised people have disowned her as an idol entirely and gotten coverups of their harry potter tattoos. I disagreed with her stance on the issue but I felt like she approached it a lot more respectably than people like Dave Chapelle for example. Were her statements so offensive to you that you’re no longer able to appreciate that world at all? I may be a little biased. Reading her series is actually what recently inspired me to explore creative writing if i’m being honest and I’ve always had love for the harry potter movies. Curious to hear your more of your thoughts!
