There's no very simple answer to that. But it's a hard truth to reckon with. A lot of it just comes down to name recognition, our two party system, and the odd quirks of our voting public. Also the DNC and RNC have both failed us pretty horribly. It's a combination of factors really, and something most people can admit hurts all of us.
