To simply say it's the exact same thing as sports fandom is definitely diminishing it. I think it's certainly more a part of who we are than that. But I do have a hard time relating with people whose sole social media presence seems to center around the gender issue. It's certainly not everybody within the movement, but from the outside looking in gender can sometimes seem like a disproportionately large part of identity for the more vocal proponents.
As far as the issues that keep me up at night, though, this doesn't even rank the top 100. I thought I'd give my thoughts with how relevant the discussion has been, but the idea that some members of the trans movement might be more vocal purveyors of cancel culture really isn't exactly one of the great issues ailing our species. Additionally, I fully believe that gender and sexuality exist on a spectrum and I'll always be a little frustrated with the conservatives who argue to the bitter end that trans people are just lying.
I really didn't intend to convey any element of "shame shame" with any of what I've said here. I'm sorry if it seemed that way. Where did that come through for you?
