Who dictates these rules exactly? I think Star Wars and Star Trek each have their fair share of iffy plot points. Is your issue mostly that it purports to be pretty realistic but takes its share of liberties? For me, I'm willing to excuse even Marvel levels of incongruities and iffy plot points if it makes for a good movie.
