Would you say you prefer this new one? I didn't have particularly strong feelings about the last one. It was good but not great. Not worth fighting for. This new one I find kind of perplexing tbh.

I definitely think you're onto something with the stakeholders. Although, it's hard for me to imagine which one of them would have thought this was a good idea if you ask me hahaha. Certainly makes some sense of these other changes of the past few months.
